WHAT'S A WORKING CAMP?

THE EMMAUS MOVEMENT

It is an international movement open to everybody, without any discrimination of  belief, race, politěcal opinions, founded by Abbé Pierre. More than 300 groups in the worid join it,11 of them in Italy.

 

AIMS and OBJECTIVES

The major aim of the movement is sharing the difficulties of people in the world, morally and materially, and struggling agaist hunger and exploitation, to reach right refations between the peoples in the North and South of the world. We fight for the rights of man, for peace, for environment.

 

 ASSOCIATES

The groups are at the basis of the moviment and are formed mostly by the communities who host people in difficulty and insert them in volunteering activities and solidarity.

Besides there are external groups who dedicate part of their free time to our activities. 

In many cases external groups and communities are part of an only association.

 

FINANCING

The majority of EMMAUS groups fěnance themselves trough an activity of collectěng and selling used materials such as clothes, forniture and different objects.

 

SOLIDARITY

What every group can obtin is used to support plans are shared both on local, national and international level.

 

 WORKING CAMPS

Every year EMMAUS ITALY organizes camps for volunteers to allow students and workers to experience our solidarity activities. The community groups are formed of 20 / 25 people and share with the responsibles of the organization a working activity, formation of the experience of solidarity, engagement in socěal and environmental issues. The output is always used to share local, national and international plans.
